The Storm

The Storm

“It is never too late to be who you might have been.” – George Elliot

When the storm comes, it destroys jobs, careers, and entire lives.

Your storm may have been building for years, manifesting in cranky interactions, lack of motivation, physical malaise, and constant irritation – followed by frustration, exhaustion, and torment – eventually evolving into angst and unmanageable dissatisfaction.

When the storm comes, it’s time to take shelter and consider options.

There may be a path forward that avoids the devastation.

Perhaps you can even detect the symptoms in advance and avoid the whole catastrophe altogether.

Let’s make sure that you are on the right path.

Or maybe it’s easier to figure out if we are NOT on the right path…

How can this feeling be described? Is it a pit in the stomach? Is it the fact that you do not feel nourished, refreshed, fulfilled by your daily life?

We are often caught up in looking outside of ourselves to search for the answers to these questions – checklists, quizzes, asking others for feedback…

Trying to fit in.

Instead of identifying where we stand out.

Are we so busy comparing ourselves and chasing other people’s ideas of success that we lose track of our own desires as an individual?

Just because you are good at something doesn’t mean you’ll be happy doing it. “Am I reaching my potential?” is not the same as “being successful”. We know that a person can be supremely successful and completely miserable at the same time.

How do we avoid getting distracted by other people’s measures of success?

Maybe it’s time to take a risk and define your own measures of success.

Can we elude the storm?
